Historic Latta Reimagined
Historic Latta Reimagined
Latta Place occupies about 16 acres within Huntersville’s Latta Nature Preserve. Before its closure in 2021, it was a circa-1800 living history museum and farm which gave visitors a glimpse into 19th century life in the Carolina backcounty. Owner James Latta enslaved 34 men, women and children at this site. As Mecklenburg County considers various proposals to reopen the site, we are seeking community feedback.
Capital Funding for this project has been approved by the Board of County Commissioners. Consultant/designer selection commenced in the Fall of 2023. Stay tuned to this site for more information on upcoming public meetings and engagement opportunities.
Historic Latta: Head/Heart Exercise - Engagement Activity #1
Multiple Response & Mapping Activity - Identify things you want to learn, feelings you have/expect to have and where those might occur on the site.
The Head/Heart Exercise will close to input no later than June 7, 2024.
